Weekend Recap

Only one game on the schedule this weekend as the Norwich Merchants were in town on Saturday evening for the 2nd match up between these teams this season.

 

The game would be a battle of the special teams. The opening period was a back and forth affair, but ended even. Josh King (2) would open the scoring shorthanded 3:22 into the period. The Braves would quickly respond, as Nic Thibodeau (3) would bring us level on the powerplay. With just over 8 minutes remaining in the 2nd period, Norwich would breakthrough on the powerplay as Jake Clemmer scored his 2nd of the season. Once again, the Braves would respond quickly off the back of Stephen Peppas’ 7th of the season, also occurring on the powerplay. This scoreline would hold all the way through the final 6:17 of the 2nd period, and the entirety of the 3rd period sending us to Overtime for the second straight weekend. There would be no overtime heroics on either side this evening, as James Hopper and Nick Barker would kick away every chance in the extra time.
