Weekend Recap

The Doherty Division leaders were in town on Friday evening. The Woodstock Navy Vets (16-2-1-0) sit clear top of the league table. The Braves would skate away with the victory on this evening, marking the 2nd victory over the Vets in the last few weeks.

The Braves would get off to a slow start in the first and Liam O’Leary would have plenty of work to do. Ethan Szabo (6) would open the scoring with just under 10 minutes remaining in the 1st period. Aiden Kindurys (2) would add a second just 3 minutes later to send the Braves behind after 20 minutes.

Tides would turn in the 2nd period as it was all Braves. Ian Glendinning tallied his 5th of the season just under 4 minutes into the period to bring us within one goal. Ethan Sharpe would then find the back of the net for his 3rd of the season sending us to the 3rd frame all evened up.

Carson Bernhardt (4) would break the deadlock just under 2 minutes into the 3rd period on the Powerplay. Owen Lukings (4) would even things back up shorthanded with just over 6 minutes to play in the period. Play would go back and forth, before the Vets would get into some late penalty trouble and Stephen Peppas (8) would bury on the powerplay to push us ahead with 30 seconds to play. Ryan Suljak (6) would then add an empty netter to seal the deal.

The Braves next game is Friday, November 24th against the Hespeler Shamrocks. 7:3
