FIREBIRDS WIN DOHERTY DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP IN DOUBLE OT

The Firebirds were the first to light the lamp and ignite the near capacity crowd on Saturday as they lead the game 1-0 at the end of the 1^st.  The Braves Gladding tied the score at 1 early in the 2^nd and Yeck would add another giving the Braves a 2-1 lead heading into the 3^rd.  New Hamburg tied the game at 2 midway through the frame but just 2 min later the Braves Donut regained the 1 goal lead.  With the goalie pulled for the extra attacker the Firebirds tied the game at 3 in the dying minutes of the 3^rd.  Both goaltenders shut the door in the 1^st OT period forcing a 2^nd OT frame.  The Firebirds found the back of the net at 2 min mark of the 2^nd OT winning them the Doherty Division Championship.
